Katy Perry, Future and Tyla open FIFA World Cup 2026 in Los Angeles
The U.S. ceremony was part of a three-nation opening as this edition expands to 48 teams.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States opened with a concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles featuring Katy Perry, Future and Tyla. Perry performed “Wonder” with Tius at midfield, while Future and Tyla sang “Game Time,” one of the songs from the tournament’s official album. Lisa, Anitta and Rema also appeared to perform “Goals,” followed by Dan + Shay singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” ahead of the U.S. opener. According to reports cited by ANTARA and USA Today, this year’s World Cup opening events are being held across the three host countries, the United States, Mexico and Canada. The 2026 edition is also the largest in history, with 48 participating nations.
