Karoline Leavitt to Step Down as White House Spokesperson in Late August
Trump has not named a successor, and Leavitt will shift to an outside adviser role ahead of the November midterm election.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post at the end of August. U.S. President Donald Trump said Leavitt is stepping down to spend more time with her two children and family, after returning to work less than a month after maternity leave. Leavitt, 28, gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, on May 1 and resumed briefing the press on July 16. In a post on X, she wrote that she could not be both the best mother to her two children and meet the demands of the White House spokesperson job. Trump said Leavitt will remain one of his top outside advisers and help the Republican Party through the November midterm election. The White House has not announced a replacement for Leavitt.
