Kansas man charged after alleged threats to shoot Trump at rally
What's new: Prosecutors say he posted that he had mapped nearby rooftops before Trump's Monday appearance near Wichita.
A 24-year-old Kansas man was charged with threatening President Donald Trump after prosecutors said he posted on Facebook that he wanted to shoot the president ahead of a Monday rally near Wichita. Jaden Read of Clearwater was arrested Saturday, two days before Trump’s visit, after a tip to Crime Stoppers prompted a federal investigation. Court filings cited comments under KAKE News and KWCH 12 News stories in which Read allegedly wrote that he would kill Trump and had already mapped roofs around the speech site. Trump spoke Monday in Park City at a campaign event for Sen. Roger Marshall. Prosecutors have not said whether investigators recovered any firearms or confirmed any operational planning.
