Forest-fire haze halts all flights at Singkawang Airport
Super Air Jet canceled flights through Aug. 23 as other Kalimantan airports were also monitored after visibility fell.
All flights to and from Singkawang Airport in West Kalimantan were temporarily halted on Friday, Aug. 21, because forest-fire haze cut visibility below safe limits. Ilham Hafizi, head of the Singkawang Airport service unit, said all schedules for the day were canceled for the safety of passengers, crews and aircraft. Super Air Jet canceled flights through Aug. 23, 2026, while TransNusa is reviewing cancellations daily based on weather conditions. The Transportation Ministry also reported that the smoke was disrupting flights at other airports in Kalimantan. At Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun, several NAM Air flights were delayed. Monitoring is being carried out with BMKG to assess flight operations.
