K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo jet loses contact over Arab Sea

A Boeing 737-400 cargo jet operated by K2 Airways lost contact over the Arab Sea on Tuesday night while flying from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistan aviation authorities said the aircraft, operating as flight KTA1732, was carrying five crew members and had reported a navigation system malfunction at 21.18 local time. Air traffic controllers tried to guide the plane, but communications were later lost. According to Pakistan airport authorities, the aircraft's last position was about 155 nautical miles, or 287 kilometers, west of Karachi. Flightradar24 data showed irregular changes in altitude and a sharp descent before the signal disappeared. Search and rescue teams have now been deployed in the Arab Sea, while the cause of the incident has not been announced.
