Jokowi Ready to Work for PSI, Says His Role Is Now Motivator

Jokowi says joining PSI must go through party procedures, while PSI leaders say efforts to strengthen the structure are still under way.

Joko Widodo said he is ready to work hard for the Indonesian Solidarity Party, even though he has not officially joined the party led by his son, Kaesang Pangarep. When met at his home in Sumber, Banjarsari, on Friday (19/6), the 7th president of Indonesia said internal procedures must be completed before he can enter PSI. Asked about his position in the party, Jokowi described his current role as a motivator. He also reaffirmed his commitment to help PSI win, referring to remarks he made at the party congress and national leadership meeting. Ahmad Ali, chairman of the PSI central executive board, said he believes Jokowi will join PSI, although the post he would hold has not been decided. He said party officials are first focusing on fixing and strengthening the party structure.
