Jember launches Homecare, Wamenkes urges national rollout
The outreach service prioritizes low-income residents, the elderly, people with disabilities, high-risk pregnant women and stunted children.
The Jember regency government launched the Homecare program to bring health services directly to residents' homes when they have trouble reaching community health centers or hospitals. The launch took place at Puskesmas Sumberbaru on Friday, July 24, 2026, and was attended by Deputy Health Minister Benjamin Paulus Octavianus and Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait. The program targets vulnerable groups, especially low-income residents, people with chronic illnesses, the elderly, people with disabilities, high-risk pregnant women and children with stunting. According to the Jember regency government, although free BPJS coverage for poor residents has been in place since April 1, 2025, many people still face distance and transportation costs. The deputy minister said the outreach model is worth testing as a national pilot, and the Health Ministry also pledged to help supply medicines and medical equipment.
