Jakpus demolishes 95 structures over Karet Tengsin PHB channel
The Abdul Jalil channel will be restored, while affected vendors are set for MSME coaching and relocation options.
The Central Jakarta city administration demolished 95 semi-permanent structures on Jalan Abdul Jalil, RW 09 and RW 11, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang, on Thursday. Most of the structures were used for businesses and sat on a connecting channel (PHB), obstructing area arrangement and drainage maintenance. Central Jakarta Assistant for Economics and Development Suprayogie said the enforcement came after three rounds of outreach and one meeting with the village head, RT/RW, LMK, and FKDM. After the demolition, the administration will clean up and normalize the channel and build a small inspection path. For affected traders, the administration is preparing coaching through Suku Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan, Koperasi, Usaha Kecil dan Menengah Jakarta Pusat, while offering several trading location options around Karet Tengsin and Jalan KH Mas Mansyur.
