Jakbar expands Wolbachia program to Cengkareng after 1,591 dengue cases
Cengkareng recorded the highest caseload in Jakbar, while Kapuk posted an IR of 133.6 per 100,000 people.
Pemerintah Kota Jakarta Barat is expanding dengue control using the Wolbachia method to Kecamatan Cengkareng, the area with the heaviest case burden in Jakarta Barat. As of 20 Agustus 2026, Jakarta Barat had recorded 1,591 dengue fever cases with an incident rate of 62.3 per 100,000 people, the third highest in DKI Jakarta. In Cengkareng alone, cases reached 563 with an IR of 96.7, while Kelurahan Kapuk was the hotspot with an IR of 133.6 and 234 cases. The program is the second implementation after Kecamatan Kembangan, which now has the lowest IR in Jakarta Barat. Sudin Kesehatan Jakbar has begun distributing Wolbachia mosquito seeds to foster parents, accompanied by the local village heads. Dinas Kesehatan DKI Jakarta stressed that the program must run alongside efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, including vacant lots.
