Jakarta Rises to 15th Among Cities With Best Public Transit

A Time Out survey of more than 24.000 residents gave Jakarta a 79.2 percent positive score, second in ASEAN behind Singapura.

Jakarta rose to 15th place globally on Time Out's 2026 list of cities with the best public transportation, up from 17th last year. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the improvement was driven by broader cross-mode integration, including MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, Transjabodetabek, and Mikrotrans. The travel magazine's survey covered more than 24.000 residents in cities around the world, with 79.2 percent of respondents giving Jakarta's public transport services a positive rating. The result put Jakarta second in Southeast Asia after Singapura and seventh in Asia. Pramono said the DKI Jakarta provincial government would continue improving connectivity across services, especially by expanding Transjabodetabek's role to ease congestion from buffer areas such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
