Jakarta public transit ridership rises 10.8% through September
Officials cite 93% intermodal connectivity as a driver, while the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route has carried 11,361 riders.
Public transit use in Jakarta reached 368.4 million riders through September 2026, up 10.8% from the same period last year. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said the increase occurred on TransJakarta, MRT Jakarta and LRT Jakarta services. The DKI provincial government said the trend shows more residents are shifting from private vehicles to public transportation. One factor behind the increase, Pramono said, is transportation connectivity, which now stands at 93%. He also linked the higher ridership to the launch of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route, which he said has served 11,361 passengers, up from the old Kelapa Gading-Velodrome route's maximum capacity of about 4,000 users.
