Jakarta Parliament Complex on alert ahead of 2026 MPR annual session

The parliament complex in Jakarta was on alert ahead of the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of DPR RI and DPD RI on Friday morning, Aug. 14, 2026. Security officers guarded the entrances, while TNI and Polri personnel were stationed at various points across the parliamentary grounds. A number of DPR RI members, DPD RI members and ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet had already arrived at around 07.00 WIB or earlier. The state event is scheduled to begin at 08.30 WIB. Two presidential helicopters were also prepared at the rear field of the Nusantara Building. President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are scheduled to attend. A day earlier, the MPR RI Secretariat General said all preparations for the session had been finalized and coordinated.
