Jakarta hands Andrea Bocelli concert decision to central government
The promoter is said to already hold permits from the Tourism Ministry, police, Immigration, Culture Ministry and venue operator.
The Jakarta provincial government has left the decision on Andrea Bocelli’s concert at JIExpo Kemayoran on Nov. 3, 2026 to the central government. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the promoter has obtained permits from the Tourism Ministry, the police, Immigration, the Culture Ministry and the venue operator, so the provincial government will follow whatever decision the central government makes. The dispute emerged after the PKS faction in the Jakarta City Council asked for the concert to be reviewed. PKS faction chairman M Taufik Zoelkifli cited objections from the Indonesian Ulema Council over Bocelli’s alleged track record in fundraising activities said to support the Israeli military. PKS has asked the Jakarta provincial government for a written response by Nov. 2 as follow-up material for the council’s oversight role.
