Jakarta fines illegal waste hauler Rp10 million in Cilincing

The violation surfaced in an Instagram video, and Governor Pramono ordered the identities of those involved made public.

The Jakarta provincial government imposed an administrative fine of Rp10 million and a first written warning on PT Sinar Berdikari Cemerlang Idaman after the company was found dumping waste illegally on Jalan Reformasi, Cilincing, North Jakarta. The Environment Office traced the case after a video of the dumping circulated from the Instagram account @Ijoeel on 10 August, then summoned the company a day later. An on-site inspection found the company's vehicles, parking area and employee housing near the location. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung also ordered firm action in the Nagrak area, including disclosing the identities of those involved. According to the provincial government, the illegal waste pile in the roughly 5.8-hectare area is dominated by waste from hotels, restaurants and cafes, not household trash.
