Jabar moves Aug. 17 ceremony to Gedung Sate courtyard
Residents may attend openly, while the ceremony lineup will be limited to TNI-Polri and Satpol PP personnel for the parade.
The West Java provincial government is moving the 81st anniversary of RI ceremony on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, from Lapangan Gasibu to the courtyard of Gedung Sate in Bandung. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said it would be the first provincial-level ceremony held at the site, and that it would also mark the completion of the revitalization of the Gedung Sate-Gasibu area. Unlike previous years, the ceremonial lineup will include only TNI and Polri personnel, while the West Java Satpol PP is being prepared for the parade. ASN and students will not be included in the formation. Residents will instead be allowed to come and watch the proceedings openly. Dedi said the location change is also intended to let documentation of the flag-raising show the full Gedung Sate landscape. He added that work on the main gate and archway is targeted for completion on Aug. 16.
