Italian minister’s data appeared on dark web after Ukraine stance

What’s new: Screenshots showed Antonio Tajani on a list of 18 people labeled “hostile to the Russian Federation.”

Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, said his personal data surfaced on the dark web in what he described as a pro-Russian hacking campaign tied to Rome’s support for Ukraine. Tajani said the attackers were seeking more information about him and his family and were offering payment for it. Reuters reported that screenshots showed his photo on a list of 18 “citizens hostile to the Russian Federation,” alongside cybersecurity experts. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called the sale of confidential information involving public officials a serious concern. A person close to Tajani said the material was found through monitoring by cybersecurity authorities on a Tor-accessible section of the dark web, and investigations are continuing.
