Israeli strike kills 2 Hamas security officers in central Gaza

What's new: The dead included Wael El-Ledawi, who led Hamas' internal security service in central Gaza, officials said.

An Israeli airstrike in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza killed two senior Hamas security officials as they traveled in a vehicle on Sunday, according to medics and the Hamas-run interior ministry. The dead were identified as Colonel Wael El-Ledawi, head of the internal security service in central Gaza, and Major Ramez Abu Zraiq. Israel's military said it struck a Hamas militant but gave no further details. The killings came after another reported strike a day earlier killed Abdel-Nasser Al-Maqadma, the head of the Hamas-led police force in northern Gaza. Gaza health officials say more than 1,190 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the October ceasefire took effect, even as full-scale fighting has paused.
