Israeli fire in Hebron kills 7-month-old Palestinian baby
What's new: Israel's military said an initial inquiry found the three people hit were uninvolved civilians and sent the case for review.
A 7-month-old Palestinian boy was killed and his parents were wounded after Israeli troops opened fire on their vehicle in the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The ministry identified the baby as Sam Fahd Abu Haikal and said he died at the scene. Israel's military said soldiers operating in Hebron believed a vehicle was accelerating toward them, and one soldier fired single shots. It later said an initial inquiry found the wounded were uninvolved civilians. The shooting happened in a part of Hebron where Israeli settlers live under heavy military protection among Palestinian residents, an area long marked by recurrent violence.
