Israel strikes Lebanon again despite new cease-fire
At least 12 strikes were reported as follow-up talks are scheduled in Washington on 23-25 June.
Israel launched airstrikes and artillery fire again against southern Lebanon on Saturday (20/6), despite a new cease-fire announced a day earlier and taking effect Friday at 16.00 local time. Lebanese media reports said at least 12 strikes hit the south, especially the Nabatieh area. The National News Agency of Lebanon also reported an Israeli drone strike killed two people riding a motorcycle after the cease-fire took effect. A Gulf diplomat said Israel and Hizbullah had agreed to halt attacks to ease the escalation. But on the ground, the strikes continued. The U.S. State Department had earlier said follow-up negotiations between Lebanon and Israel were scheduled in Washington on 23-25 June, after talks between Marco Rubio and Joseph Aoun.
