Israel bars Palestinian Grand Mufti from Al-Aqsa for 7 days

The ban came after Sheikh Mohammad Hussein was detained following Friday prayers and a sermon at the mosque compound.

Israeli authorities have barred Jerusalem and Palestinian Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Hussein from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for one week. The ban was issued on Friday after Israeli forces detained Hussein following his sermon and after he led Friday prayers at the site. According to WAFA and the Jerusalem Governorate cited by media, Hussein was later released but was served an administrative order closing off his access to the holy site for seven days. The incident came amid tighter Israeli restrictions at Al-Aqsa, which is in East Jerusalem. On the same day, tens of thousands of Palestinian worshippers still came for Friday prayers despite the tightened access to the mosque compound.
