Tanjung Jabung Timur ISPU at 331 as Jambi haze turns hazardous
The thickest haze was observed in Berbak, bordering fire sources in TNBS and Tahura Orang Kayo Hitam.
Smoke from forest and land fires in Jambi is growing thicker, and air quality in Tanjung Jabung Timur has entered the hazardous category. Monitoring by the Air Pollution Standard Index station on Friday (16/10) recorded a reading of 331 in the regency. The worst conditions were seen in Berbak District, especially Simpang village, which has been blanketed by heavy smoke in recent days. The area borders fire sources directly in Taman Nasional Berbak Sembilang and Tahura Orang Kayo Hitam. Antara photos showed a child riding a bicycle, residents traveling along the Berbak River, and vehicles on the Berbak Bridge with visibility obscured by smoke. The increase in smoke in several cities and regencies in Jambi signals a worsening haze crisis driven by karhutla in Sumatra.
