Iran files FIFA complaint over World Cup travel limits before Belgium

What's new: US authorities are allowing Iran into Los Angeles only a day before the noon Group G match, then requiring the team to leave after the game.

Iran said it will file a formal complaint with FIFA after organizers kept in place travel rules that limit the team’s time in World Cup host cities. The Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran said the squad will be allowed into Los Angeles only 24 hours before Sunday’s Group G match against Belgium, despite requesting an earlier arrival to adjust and train ahead of the noon local kickoff. Iran are based in Tijuana, Mexico, after moving their camp from Arizona. The team faced the same restriction before its 2-2 draw with New Zealand, and some backroom staff were also denied US visas. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said Iran had agreed to the terms.
