Ipswich sign Daizen Maeda from Celtic for £10 million

The Japan striker has signed a three-year deal through 2029 after scoring 79 goals in 212 matches for Celtic.

Ipswich Town have signed Japan striker Daizen Maeda from Celtic in the 2026 summer transfer window. The Premier League newcomers have given the 28-year-old a three-year contract through 2029 in a deal reported to be worth about 10 million pounds sterling. Maeda arrives after representing Japan at the 2026 World Cup. At Celtic, he scored 79 goals in 212 appearances and helped the Scottish club win five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups. Manager Gary O'Neil said Maeda would bring energy, work rate and a scoring threat to Ipswich's squad, which earned promotion to the top flight last season after finishing second in the Championship.
