IPL prepares elite table tennis league for 2027 with 10 clubs
Each club must field foreign players and host events, with 10 matches a year plus promotion and relegation.
Indonesia Pingpong League is preparing an elite table tennis league targeted to start in 2027 as part of efforts to improve the national competition system. IPL Secretary General Yon Mardiyono said the league will begin with 10 clubs. Each participant will be required to have foreign players to sharpen competition and give national athletes more experience. Clubs will also have to serve as hosts, creating 10 matches or events in a year, or more than once a month on average. IPL is also building a points and ranking database that will be updated throughout the season. The competition will use a promotion and relegation system, with a second division held at the same time, in an effort to strengthen development and raise Indonesia's table tennis performance at the international level.
