Inter open talks to sign Tottenham defender Cristian Romero
Tottenham are ready to part with their captain after adding Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi to the back line.
Inter Milan have begun talks with Tottenham Hotspur to sign center back Cristian Romero in the summer transfer window. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said the club was working toward an agreement with the player and Tottenham, though the process is expected to take time. Romero, 28, joined Spurs in 2021 and has made 156 appearances in all competitions. He helped Tottenham win the Europa League last season, but has served four suspensions in the 2025/26 season. The chance of a move has strengthened after Tottenham brought in Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Marcos Senesi as a free agent. If the transfer goes through, Romero would add to Inter's defensive options after the departures of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, while Manuel Akanji was made permanent after his loan spell.
