Ukrainian intelligence releases data on 8 Indonesians recruited by Russia

Visa documents show the men, ages 29-47, were recruited in 2025-2026, most through Russia and one via Belarus.

Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service released data on at least eight Indonesian citizens it said were recruited into Russia's army for the war against Ukraine. The agency said documents it obtained included communications from Russia's Foreign Ministry on visa processing for the Indonesians, ages 29 to 47. According to FISU, most entered on Russian visas in 2025 to 2026, while one went through Belarus. Ukraine said Moscow used the same pattern seen in Nepal, Cuba, Kenya and India: promises of high pay, noncombat duties, fast-track citizenship and social benefits, but many recruits were ultimately sent to the front line. CNN Indonesia reported Indonesia's Foreign Ministry had not responded to the claim.
