Indramayu court sentences five-family killer to death
The defendant plans to appeal, while prosecutors are still reviewing the judges’ reasoning before deciding their formal response.
The Indramayu District Court sentenced Ririn Rifanto to death in the premeditated killing of five members of one family in Paoman, Indramayu Regency, on Wednesday (8/7/2026). Chief judge Wimmy D. Simarmata said Ririn was proven to have taken part in the premeditated murder and child abuse that resulted in death. In its reasoning, the court found that Ririn and Priyo Bagus Setiawan had agreed to kill the victims’ family to seize their property. The two were said to have prepared an iron hammer, gone to the victims’ home on 29 August 2025, and then carried out their respective roles. After the verdict, Ririn said he would appeal. Prosecutors, through Eko Supramurbada, head of the general crimes unit at the Indramayu Prosecutor’s Office, said they were still considering their response while studying the court’s reasoning.
