Indonesia tops Asian Para Games 2026 target with 14 golds
Officials plan longer training camps to develop young athletes for ASEAN Para Games 2027 and the 2028 Paralympics.
Indonesia surpassed its medal target at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Nagoya, Japan, with 14 golds, 20 silvers and 37 bronzes as of Friday (23/10) night. The team had gone into the event with 103 athletes across 12 sports and a target of 7 golds, 8 silvers and 17 bronzes. Chef de Mission Reda Manthovani said the result provides an important base for maintaining results ahead of the ASEAN Para Games 2027 in Kuala Lumpur and the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles. He also urged longer training camps, noting that several young athletes stood out, including I Kadek Dwi Purwana Yasa, who won the F57 discus gold with a throw of 49,75 meters, and 17-year-old swimmer Abdil Majid Rahman, who also contributed a gold.
