Indonesia ships first 28 tons of palm fronds to China

The supply from Riau, North Sumatra and Aceh involves 7 cooperatives and is expected to benefit 2,800 members economically.

BPDP and ASPEKPIR Indonesia launched the first export of 28 tons of palm fronds to China at the PT Arra Setya Abadi warehouse in Belawan, Medan, on Wednesday (17/6/2026). The raw material came from oil palm plantations in Riau, North Sumatra and Aceh, then was collected by farmers, UMKM and ASPEKPIR member cooperatives. ASPEKPIR chairman Setiyono said the shipment follows an UMKM empowerment program run with BPDP in palm-producing regions. At least seven cooperatives took part in supplying the raw material, with economic benefits expected to reach about 2,800 members. BPDP said promotion and training for palm frond production have been under way since 2024 to meet export standards, while PT Arra Setya Abadi said international market demand continues to rise.
