ILO adopts fair-work standards for digital platform workers

The standards cover fair pay, social protection, workplace safety, automated-system transparency and data protection.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted international labor standards on decent work in the platform economy at the closing plenary of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2026. Manpower Minister Yassierli said the standards are important for fast-growing digital economies such as Indonesia, which has millions of digital platform workers. The convention, according to the government, provides a framework to balance worker protection with room for innovation and flexible implementation under national law. The principles covered include occupational safety and health, fair remuneration, social protection, transparency in the use of automated systems, protection of personal data and fair processes for workers such as ojek online drivers and online couriers.
