IDAI Urges Basic Life Support as Priority for Child Shock Cases

If a child does not respond, residents are urged to start CPR immediately before taking the victim to a health facility.

Ikatan Dokter Anak Indonesia is urging the public to prioritize Basic Life Support when helping a child who has been electrocuted. The first steps emphasized are checking the airway, breathing, and blood circulation to improve the victim's chances of survival before medical treatment is given. PP IDAI Chairman Piprim Basarah Yanuarso said treatment is often mishandled because people instead rub on oil or take other steps that do not save vital functions. If the child does not respond, residents need to immediately perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as part of BHD, then take the victim to a health facility or wait for medical help. The message was delivered at the peak of IDAI's 72nd anniversary celebration at Taman Margasatwa Ragunan, Jakarta.
