Idaho mother in anti-vaccine lawsuit charged with killing twin toddlers

What's new: Prosecutors allege Andrea Renee Shaw suffocated the children, undercutting a claim amplified by Children’s Health Defense.

An Idaho grand jury charged Andrea Renee Shaw, 23, with murder in the deaths of her twin toddlers after prosecutors alleged she suffocated them. Shaw had drawn national attention after appearing in Children’s Health Defense materials and serving as the lead plaintiff in two legal actions against the American Academy of Pediatrics, claiming vaccines caused the children’s deaths. The twins were found dead on May 1, 2025, in Payette, Idaho, and police said the indictment followed a nearly 14-month investigation. Authorities did not detail the evidence behind the charges. Shaw’s lawyer, Joseph Filicetti, said he would argue vaccines caused the suffocation, while Children’s Health Defense CEO Mary Holland said the group would continue backing Shaw.
