ICE detains Milo Yiannopoulos, a British commentator, in Louisiana
What's new: ICE records list Yiannopoulos as a U.K. citizen in custody, but authorities have not explained the grounds for detention.
Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right British commentator and former Breitbart editor, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the agency's detainee records and multiple news reports. Fox News reported he was being held in Alexandria, Louisiana, while ABC News said an ICE database showed him in custody on Friday. The Department of Homeland Security and ICE did not immediately provide details on his immigration status, possible deportation proceedings or the reason for his detention. Yiannopoulos, 41, rose to prominence as an ally of Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign and later left Breitbart after controversy over past remarks.
