IAPMIGAS pushes gas roadmap to cut LPG imports
The roadmap prioritizes faster pipelines, LNG, regasification and household gas networks to better align supply and demand.
Ikatan Ahli Perpipaan Minyak dan Gas Bumi Indonesia (IAPMIGAS) launched a policy roadmap to speed up the role of natural gas as a transition fuel and strengthen Indonesia's energy sovereignty. In the document introduced in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6/2026), IAPMIGAS said gas development remains constrained by limited infrastructure, the distance between supply sources and demand centers, and regulations and investment certainty that are not yet aligned. IAPMIGAS Chair Rosa Permata Sari said the main recommendations include integrating transmission and distribution pipelines, accelerating LNG facilities and regasification terminals, and synchronizing supply and demand. IAPMIGAS also urged replacing LPG with household gas networks and using compressed natural gas to cut imports and energy subsidies.
