Houthi deny drone attack on Makkah after Saudi interception claim
Houthi called the claim a “big lie” as attacks on Riyadh, airports and Saudi energy facilities continued to mount.
Houthi denied launching a drone toward Makkah after the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed the unmanned aircraft on Friday (30/10). Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree called the reported interception in Makkah airspace a “big lie.” In contrast, coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki wrote on X that a drone launched by Houthi was intercepted and destroyed in the Makkah area. The coalition did not detail the launch site, target or impact of the attack. The denial came as hostilities again escalated. A day earlier, Houthi said it carried out six operations targeting Ras Tanura, Abqaiq, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Rabigh and a Saudi force headquarters in Najran.
