Kalimantan Tengah hot spots rise to 4,359, 7,634 hectares burned

The National Disaster Management Agency recorded that hot spots from forest and land fires in Kalimantan Tengah continued to rise to 4,359. SiPongi data from the Ministry of Forestry as of August 27, 2026 also showed the burned area in the province had exceeded 7,634 hectares. Acting head of BNPB's Center for Data, Information, and Disaster Communications Berton SP Panjaitan said the number of fire points stood at 93, while hot spots increased by 412. Visibility was reported to remain normal at about nine kilometers. BNPB is focusing ground operations in Kalimantan Tengah for suppression, limiting fire spread and cooling, including on 257 hectares in Pulang Pisau and 10 hectares in Seruyan. Forest and land fire operations are also under way by ground and air in Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Selatan, Sumatera Selatan, Riau, and Jambi.
