HMS Tamar docks in Jakarta through June 20, strengthening RI-UK ties

The British patrol ship’s crew is scheduled for sports and cultural events over four days in Jakarta.

The Royal Navy patrol ship HMS Tamar is in Jakarta on June 17-20, 2026, in a visit tied to efforts to strengthen maritime cooperation between Indonesia and England. British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey described the ship’s stop as a sign of the two countries’ increasingly close ties. HMS Tamar commander Tom Lindsey said the vessel arrived from Australia after months of duty in the Pacific and passed through the Sunda Strait before berthing at Tanjung Priok. During the four-day stay in Jakarta, the crew is scheduled to take part in sports activities, cultural events and city visits. On the Indonesian side, Kodaeral III said the visit opens space to deepen professional military ties and defense cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
