Hendarto gets 8-year prison term in LPEI credit graft case
Judges also ordered Hendarto to pay Rp1,05 trillion and US$49,8 million in restitution, less seized assets and Rp3,77 billion paid.
The Central Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Hendarto, owner of PT Sakti Mait Jaya Langit and PT Mega Alam Sejahtera, to 8 years in prison in a corruption case involving credit facilities from Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia (LPEI). The panel of judges, led by Brelly Yuniar Dien Wardi Haskori on Monday (22/6), also imposed a Rp500 million fine, with an additional 140 days in jail if unpaid. In addition to the main sentence, Hendarto was ordered to pay Rp1,05 trillion and US$49,875 million in restitution, after deducting evidence confiscated for the state and Rp3,77 billion in payments. The judges said his actions caused state losses of Rp1,059 trillion and US$49,875 million. In aggravating considerations, the court said the money was used for gambling and luxury purchases.
