Health minister reviews BPJS patient death after 8-hour wait
KKI identified 10 health workers suspected of mocking Yurizal's post and is preparing an ethics investigation.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin is treating the death of BPJS Kesehatan patient Yurizal Tri Chaerawan as a review point for health services after he was said to have waited eight hours for a treatment room. In Jakarta on Aug. 5-6, Budi said he was saddened and that health workers must put empathy first when treating patients. The case surfaced from a Threads post by @yurizaltrich on July 22, 2026, which complained about not getting a ward and chose not to name the hospital. The post then drew a flood of mocking comments, including from accounts believed to belong to health workers. On Aug. 1, a relative wrote that Yurizal had died on July 31. The Konsil Kesehatan Indonesia then said 10 health workers and medical staff were suspected of involvement and would be investigated further.
