Hayden Panettiere dies at 36 after child stardom and TV fame

What's new: A BBC obituary traced her rise from soap operas to “Heroes” and “Nashville,” alongside years of addiction and body-image struggles.

Hayden Panettiere, the actor known for “Heroes” and “Nashville,” has died at 36 after a career that began in infancy and brought early success, intense fame and personal struggles. BBC’s obituary said she appeared in her first commercial at 11 months old, then worked on the soap operas “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light” as a child. She later voiced Princess Dot in “A Bug’s Life,” appeared in “Remember the Titans,” and broke through as Claire Bennet in “Heroes.” In her autobiography, “This Is Me,” published earlier this year, Panettiere wrote that fame cost her a normal childhood and described addiction, body dysmorphia and lasting injuries from a fall while filming “Racing Stripes.”
