Hamas and Fatah prepare to meet in Cairo next week
The meeting is aimed at reviving stalled inter-faction dialogue that has remained frozen since the 2007 political split.
Hamas and Fatah are reported to be preparing for a meeting in Cairo, Egypt, next week to continue Palestinian national dialogue. A Palestinian source quoted by Anadolu said delegations from the two factions expect the meeting to be held on Monday, after months of contact to reopen a channel for dialogue. The plan emerged days after a Hamas delegation visited Cairo and met with Egyptian officials and representatives of Palestinian factions. The talks are taking place amid political challenges affecting the Palestinian cause. Reconciliation efforts between the two sides have repeatedly failed, even though Hamas and Fatah have been divided since 2007 despite a series of Arab- and internationally mediated talks and agreements.
