South Jakarta court rejects Roy Suryo's fourth pretrial bid
The judge ruled the travel ban challenge was no longer relevant after the main case was already filed at East Jakarta District Court.
The South Jakarta District Court rejected all of Roy Suryo's fourth pretrial petition in the alleged defamation case involving Joko Widodo's fake diploma. Single judge I Ketut Darpawan read the ruling on Wednesday. The petition challenged the legality of the travel ban abroad, with Polda Metro Jaya as the respondent. In his consideration, the judge said the petition was no longer relevant because the main case had been handed over by prosecutors to East Jakarta District Court and had been registered. The judge also said filing pretrial motions one by one after the main case enters court amounts to an abuse of legal procedure. After the ruling, Polda Metro Jaya said it would continue to follow the legal process and prepare to face the fifth pretrial motion already filed by Roy.
