Hack triggers false nuclear, chemical alerts on Ukraine app
What's new: Russia's emergencies ministry also reported a separate cyberattack that spread false messages through its mobile app.
Ukraine's Air Force said its public air raid alert app was hacked after it briefly pushed false warnings of radiation, chemical danger, street fighting and a supposed launch of Russia's Oreshnik hypersonic missile. The bogus alerts appeared in Kyiv and other areas on Sunday before disappearing. The Air Force told residents there was no radiation threat and urged them to follow official updates. Ukraine's Ministry for Digital Transformation said the app was offline, but other warning channels, including sirens, were still working. Separately, Russia's emergencies ministry said its own mobile app was hit by a massive cyberattack that let attackers send false information. It was not immediately clear whether the two incidents were linked.
