Indonesia Grand Prix 2026 boosts seasonal work, Lombok SMEs

Local residents work up to 12 hours a day at the circuit, from cleaning to waste handling, adding income for families.

The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is driving seasonal jobs and tourism spending in Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, during Oct. 9-11. Local residents have taken temporary work in a range of roles, including cleaning and waste management in the paddock area and on the circuit grounds. Baiq Essenza, 20, a resident of Praya, said it was her first time working at the international racing event. Lia Kartika of Sengkol, a cleaning service waste management coordinator, said her team works 12 hours a day from 07.00 to 18.00 WITA. At the same time, Pertamina Patra Niaga is using the race to direct visitors to explore Mataram, Senggigi, Lombok International Airport and Kuta Mandalika through the MyPertamina Your Journey Partner campaign, while creating promotional space for local UMKM.
