Government readies E20-E50 ethanol gasoline, 60-day oil stocks
B50 will remain in place, while crude storage facilities in Sumatra are being prepared to raise national energy reserves.
The government is preparing to implement a 20 percent to 50 percent ethanol blend in fuel, from E20 to E50, as part of efforts to strengthen energy resilience. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said President Prabowo Subianto asked for readiness to carry out the program in a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday. Bahlil said the strategic plan is being drawn up with Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman because raw material supply at the upstream level depends on coordination between the two ministries. At the same time, the government will continue the B50 biodiesel policy. In addition, it is preparing to build crude oil storage facilities in several areas of Sumatra so energy reserves, now above 20 days, can be increased to 60 days.
