Government prepares digital single ID for social aid by end-2026
Officials say 80 percent of the GovTech system is integrated, with subsidies being shifted directly to recipients instead of goods.
The government is preparing a digital single ID based on artificial intelligence to strengthen social aid distribution and data-driven governance, with the system targeted to start operating at the end of this year. National Economic Council Chairman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the system is intended to make social assistance and cash transfers more accurate and reduce budget leakage. He said about 80 percent of the Government Technology system has been linked across ministries and agencies. The integration will be used to map aid recipients' profiles and shift the subsidy scheme from goods to beneficiaries. Luhut said the average social assistance in the form of cash transfers is about Rp5,4 juta per person. The same system is also being prepared to map MSME operators so financing and support can be more targeted.
