GoTo and Grab cut ride-hailing driver commission to 8% on July 1

The fee cut from 20% could squeeze profits at the two platforms in their biggest market.

GoTo and Grab will lower per-trip commission for two-wheeler drivers in Indonesia to 8% starting July 1, 2026, from 20% previously. The move follows a cap first outlined by President Prabowo Subianto in a May 1 Labor Day speech, though no implementation date was set at the time. GoTo deputy chief executive Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo and Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi said the companies support efforts to improve driver welfare. Reuters previously reported the regulation could threaten the profitability of ride-hailing platforms in their largest market in Southeast Asia. Deputy House Speaker Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal called the commission cut evidence of the government's commitment to ojol drivers.
