Gibran targets 2-week completion for Way Bungur emergency bridge
The temporary crossing is meant to let motorcycles and students stop using boats while they wait for the permanent span.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected construction of the Way Bungur Bridge in Lampung Timur Regency on Wednesday and set a target for the emergency bridge to be finished in two weeks, or around the end of July 2026. The temporary access is being prepared so motorcycles can cross, allowing students and residents to stop relying on boats to get over the river. The bridge connects Desa Tanjung Tirto and Desa Kali Pasir in Kecamatan Way Bungur and is a key link between Lampung Timur and Lampung Tengah. The permanent project is said to be worth Rp96,8 miliar, with a route of about 764 meters and an 18-month construction period. Gibran inspected the site by land and by boat with Lampung Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela and Lampung Timur Regent Ela Siti Nuryamah.
