Gibran opens PENAS XVII in Gorontalo, 13,000 attend
The June 20-25 forum aired complaints about diesel, irrigation, rice drying and fertilizer, all marked for quick follow-up.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka opened the 2026 National Week of Farmers and Fishermen, or Pekan Nasional XVII Petani dan Nelayan 2026, at GOR David-Tony in Gorontalo district on Saturday (20/6/2026), in a forum attended by 13,000 farmers and fishermen from across Indonesia. At the event, Gibran spoke with representatives of the participants and asked the relevant ministries to promptly follow up on the input raised. Issues included diesel fuel needs, agricultural irrigation, rice drying and milling facilities, market certainty, price stability, and the distribution of subsidized fertilizer. Gibran also highlighted the trimming of 145 regulations governing fertilizer distribution and the construction and revitalization of seven fertilizer plants, including in Palembang, Gresik, Bontang, and Lhokseumawe. PENAS XVII runs from 20-25 June 2026 and is scheduled to be closed by President Prabowo Subianto.
