GetGo opens Singapore-to-Malaysia car rentals with 30% surcharge
What's new: About 200 vehicles qualify at launch, with bookings from 12 hours to five days and no mileage fee in West Malaysia.
GetGo on Tuesday rolled out a new app feature that lets users in Singapore book eligible cars and drive them into Malaysia, marking the car-sharing platform’s first cross-border service. The option, called Drive to Malaysia, allows travel anywhere in West Malaysia without mileage charges or a security deposit. Instead, renters pay a 30% cross-border surcharge on the time charge, capped by vehicle category and travel day. GetGo said about 200 vehicles are eligible at launch from its fleet of more than 3,000 cars across 1,700 locations. Bookings must run at least 12 hours and no more than five days, and can be made up to 30 days ahead. The company said nearly 2,000 users expressed interest during an earlier pilot.
